Having problems with your 2003 GMC Sierra ?

Installing an aftermarket stereo, spliced the wires and have everything connected including the remote wire to the factory amp wire but still no sound.

\015 I have a 2004 GMC Sierra and i am installing an after market stereo. I couldn't find a wiring harness so i cut the wires and began splicing them. The deck turns on but when I put a cd in, the speakers dont make any sound even though i have the remote wire off the deck attached to the factory amp wire. How can i get sound?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 06-04-2020

There is no remote wire on these newer trucks....03 and up....u have to buy the harness....although i didnt....i have an 03 gmc sierra and just pulled the schematic and matched the wires. And there is no programming to do on an aftermarket stereo.....I work for GMC and we cant program aftermarket stereos......if u buy the right harness ...and its over $100 then everything should work just fine.....and this does not disarm ur alarm system either....mine still works fine....hope this helps
ALL GMC TRUCKS 03' ON HAVE YOUR ALARM SYSTEM COMPUTER PROGRAMED TO THE ORIGINAL RADIO...EVEN IF YOU REPLACE THE ORIGINAL O.E.M. GMC PRODUCT RADIO WITH A NEW O.E.M. GMC RADIO THE VEHICLE HAS TO BE TAKEN TO A DEALER TO RE-PROGRAM THE CORRECT CODE FOR THE RADIO, AND ALARM TO WORK.
A 15 MIN JOB [BY AN HONEST GMC DEALER] ABOUT $30. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE COMPUTER TO INSTALL THIS CODE AND EVEN IF YOU DID, THEY WILL NOT GIVE IT TO YOU FOR FREE.
HOPE YOU HAD A CORRECT COLOR CODED WIRE DIAGRAM WHEN INSTALLING. DOING IT W/O SPENDING THE EXTRA $ FOR HARNESS COULD BE, IF NOT SPLICED CORRECTLY, BLOW YOUR FUSES, OR HARM THE RADIO OR SPEAKERS...INSTALLING AN AFTERMARKET RADIO DISABLES YOUR ALRM SYSTEM ALSO. MOST RADIO SHOPS RUN A NEW WIRE DIRECT FROM THE BATTERY [HEAVY GAGE, W/FUSE] YOU COULD TRY THAT BEFORE YOU TAKE IT TO A DEALER...JAMES IN PG
