Hyundai Accent 1998 Front Wiper and Washer Won't Turn Off

\015 Front wiper and washer won't turn off. The washer fluid runs out quickly.\015\012\015\012If I remove the fuse, they stop.\015\012\015\012The rear wiper/washer mechanism works fine.\015\012\015\012Curiously, the stick which controls the front wiper/washer will allow the front wiper to go to extra fast speed or back to normal speed. I've also tested another stick from the wreckers (salvage yard in USA). Same problem. I'm confident the stick is not the problem.\015\012\015\012If I disconnect the wire from the wiper motor, the washer motor keeps going. Conversely if I disconnect the wire from the washer motor, the wiper keeps going.\015\012\015\012I think the problem is located in some hidden circuit board or "relay" switch. I did find the mysterious "passenger relay box" next to the steering column, and after getting multiple lacerations to my hands just trying to pull the switches out, I can only confidently identify the yellow switch that controls the inside aircon fan, and big black switch for the hazard lights. I have no idea what the other smaller black switches do. I can't find any proper diagram on the web or even on www.hmaservice.com\015\012\015\012Am I on the right track?\015\012\015\012Please help.\015\012Thanks from Australia.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 15-04-2019

The black switches are master switches. They control stuff like the horn, the lights, wipers, AC, Engine Fans, and....there's one more that it controls, but i dont remember what it is. But you're going the wrong way about this. You're on the wrong side of the engine. You want to be on the opposite side of the engine, along the firewall, close to the front shocks by the windshield wiper motor. That's more than likely your problem. A little bit of water, grease, or some dirt might have slipped past the seal and caused a malfunction in the control wheel. Just open it up, clean it out, add some grease to the appropriate area, blow dry the circut board, stitch it back up, and that should solve the problem.\015\012
Please keep in mind that my American Car is a sligh bit different than your Australian Car. If the directions don't match up, i'm sorry for the inconvenience.
