Having problems with your 2003 Hyundai Accent ?

Used to get an average of about 6.5 L/100km in our 4cyl '03 Accent, now getting ~9. The only thing I've noticed is that it seems to be shifting gears at a higher rpm than it used to (no noticeable leaks). Is this a major or minor tranny issue?

Answers :

Check your fluid, looking for odd materials in it, smelling for a burnt smell, as well as running some OBD2 tests at your local autoparts store (generally free), that should tell you if the computer is aware of any malfuctions, also, the clutches in the transmission could be wearing down, although that seems like an unlikely problem, transmissions fluid flush could cure the issue, but is more expensive than a free test
