Having problems with your 2003 Kia Rio ?

Battery good, power to starter, engine won't turn over

\015 I was driving home the other night when my rio just died. The battery is good, interior and exsterior lights strong, volts good, but the engine won't turn over. It is a manual tranny and I can tell that with the clutch depressed I am getting power to the starter as the interior lights dim, but the engine won't turn over. I think this is the starter, but I am a little confused as to why the starter would cause the cdar to just die while I am driving it. Any ideas?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 17-12-2018

\015\012Any of the accessories will operate fine with a nearly dead battery and will only pull down the battery voltage at the terminals very little.\015\012A healthy battery will deliver at least 11 volts with all your lights, stereo, power windows, etc. operating at once.\015\012   \015\012If your lights are only dimming a little when starting, you may have an oxidized connection at the starter terminal so this needs to be checked too.\015\012
\015\012If the ground terminal (negative) is corroded where chassis and engine come together, this can drop too much voltage and, if bad enough, could shut down your engine too.
