Kia carens 2000 diesel immobiliser problem

\015 The car suddenly refused to start. A local mechanic called and started it within one minute. Apparantly the immobiliser needed to be reset. This, he said, was caused by low battery voltage. However, there seems to be lots of power in the battery. I had cranked the engine many times over a period of one hour. He says that if the battery voltage drops below 7v then the immobiliser will refuse to work. To reset the immobiliser he said to get a new battery, then turn ignition on/off quickly 4 times. The key fob refused to work some months ago and I've been unlocking the car manually with the key. I'd welcome any comments before changing the battery. Any comments please?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 27-06-2022
