Having problems with your 2003 Mazda MPV ?

Engine light goes on

\015 I've had to replace 2 ignition coils this year. One in Feb and 1 in Dec.\015\012I have only 67k miles on the car. A co-worker also\015\012had to have an ignition coil replaced before 60k.\015\012Judging by all the postings, this is a defect. Why hasn't a recall been issued?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 18-10-2021

I've had this problem for the past year. I've had the PCV recall (TSB # 2204H) issue fixed. http://mazdaforum.com/recalls-and-tsbs/make_MAZDA/model_MPV/year_2003/id_2204H/TSB.htm . German Mazda dealer said it was the Ignition Coils so I replaced all the Spark plugs and all 6 Ignition Coils and I still had the problem. In another posted Tech Service Bulletin it specifically addressed this concern. TSB # 01-023/05 , Engine Misfire Detection Procedure http://www.mpvclub.com/tsb.php?id=172 . Basically, the Mazda maintenance crew has to scan it for Misfires and then if this is the problem, fix it in accordance with the Mazda Workshop Manual (section 01-03 No. 11). I'm statoned in Germany, so it's been a real pain and I'm still trying to get this problem fixed. Should be easier stateside. Hope this helps.
They'll only issue a recall if its a safety issue or a cheap fix. If it failed after only 10-20k miles you might have a case....otherwise I guess the manufacturers are a 'lil broke right now....
