Having problems with your 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Coupe ?

I have a 2003 mitsubishi eclipse that just clicks when key is turned over. I had it jumped, it started right away. I drove it 3-5 miles, drove fine. I turned it off, 10 minutes later tried to start it again, just clicked. I replaced the battery about 7-8 months ago. What could it be?

Most likely it will be your alternator that is giving you a problem. Once you jump start the vehicle it has enough power to run for a short time but will not restart. The starter requires a large amount of power that is not available in a low charged battery, that is why the car will not start. A quick check for the alternator is once the engine is running turn the head lights on and reve the engine slightly above idle. If the lights get brighter the alternator is charging, if they don't then the alternator is not charging and you have solved your problem.
\015\012If you have a volt meter you can also test the charging voltage at the battery posts. It should range frol 13,8 volts to 14.6 volts on the D.C. scale of your meter.
Alternator is not charging the battery. bad alternator
