Having problems with your 2003 Mitsubishi Galant ?

Heater not dispersing hot air

\015 I have a '03 Galant ES and my heater just went out. I'm not sure what the problem is, the fans work but it only disperses cold air. It was making this funny clanking noise whenever I would switch it from hot to cold or vise versa. Now it doesn't make that noice anymore, but my heat doesn't work. I checked my coolant and I'm topped off, and I'm not running hot or overheating so I don't think it's my thermastat. I also don't have a puddle of water on my floorboard so I don't think it's the heater core. I'm thinking it could be stuck on A/C. Any ideas??\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 20-05-2019

There ia an actuator that controls the flap to change from hot to cold. You have to pull the bottom part of the dash and the whole blower motor housing. The part you are looking for is located just behind the radio and has an arm that goes into the heater core line. That is the piece you need. Its around $165 dollars and a dealer only part. And hope you have someone that can do it because mitsubishi charges over $500 in labor.
I got the part yesterday to fix this problem on my 03 galant es. its called the Heater Control Actuator Motor set me back 150 but was worth having heat. took me and my dad maybe an hr and a half to put it on and put the dash back together. can easily be done at home. it is not necessiary ro take the entire blower housing out you can access the part from the passenger side, after removing the bottom dash. it is located maybe 6inches about the heater core.
