Loss of Power from a Mitsubishi 1.9 DiD engine

\015 My Mitsubishi Carisma Diesel 1.9DiD used to be a very responsive unit but seemed to lose a lot of its (not massive) 100bhp for no apparent reason. It runs smoothly but the acceleration is pedestrian. The only coincidental fault that could be associated with the power loss was when the air-con was left on with the heater running. This resulted in a faint burnt 'plastic' or bakelite smell. Other than that, there's been nothing obvious that could have caused it.\015\012\015\012For information the engine has completed 90,000miles and has been regularly serviced.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 10-12-2018

Answers :

Hi, check the air filter. Have helped friends in the past who have poor running vehicles that have been regularly serviced by a garage. I looked at them, found the air filter black with dirt....totally clogged up....never been changed since new!!! Many garages seem dont seem to bother changing it when they should!!! Cars need air to work (more air than fuel) so try this. Paul
