Having problems with your 2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx ?
POWER STEERING IS GONE!
\015 I cannot believe everyone is having this problem. My girlfriend has a 2004 Malibu Maxx (62,000 miles) and about a month ago she received the warning but the power steering was still working fine. She was still worried and scared so she took it to the dealership where she purchased it. They put it on the computer, found some codes, told her it needed more investigation and charged her! Just yesterday as she was driving to work, the steering locked up and she had dificulty turning left or right. No wonder GM is in trouble because this sounds like a lemon of a design. I believe they need to recall for this problem as nobody really seems to know what to do to fix it!\015\012Jim\015

The problem seems to be the electric pump that supplies power steering pressure on demand is defective or the sensor that tells it u need assist is defective, read allot about this design having problems, suggest you contact GM customer relations, the number is in the owners manual.
We bought the extended warranty when we got a MAXX. The rack and pinion has been replaced TWICE!
