Having problems with your 2004 Chevrolet Silverado ?

Noise from dash or windshield

\015 Hello I have a 2004 extended cab 4x4 NW edition.\015\012 When driving I get a fairly loud noise coming from the dash and or windshield. It sounds like the ticking of hail or insects hitting the windshield.\015\012 This just became apparent in the colder weather.\015\012 Is there something in the windshield or trim that is reacting with the heater????\015\012 I purchased the truck used last year.I haven,t driven it alot.it has about 54,000 miles on it and is in great shape.\015\012 The noise occurs approximatly around 30 mph.\015\012 Again it sounds like driving into hail or large rain drops pelting the windshield.\015\012 Thank you for any help...Robert\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 30-11-2020

I have the same problem I think it's the rubber flaps that cover the hood hinges, when the wind catches them they flap up and down it I have noticed it seems to be worse on a windy day.
Researching this I found three solutions I am still tracking down the exact source.
1- caused by wind coming off the bug deflector(someone on a chevy forum suggested this)
2- cause by the weather strip along the passenger side of the windshield. (not sure on this I put some pieces in the strip and it did not stop)
3- caused by the fender liner on the passenger front wheel.(plastic fender liner snapping on the frame travels up the A-pillar)
