Having problems with your 2004 Chevrolet Silverado ?

AC problem The ac wirked fine untill it strated making an aweful noise. that lasted for about a week and a half, then went away. When the noise went away, the ac stopped working. Do you think its just the clutch or am i gonna need a whole new compressor? If so how do i go about replacing it.

Answers :

Sounds like the bearing and clutch went out. Its best to replace the compressor, unless you got the tools and knowhow to chg. the clutch and bearing. If you just chg. out the compressor, the refregerent has to be drained out first, and then unbolt lines on back of compressor, and electrical wires, and belt, and bolts then remove. Put new compressor on in reverse order. But system should be vacumed be for its recharged with refregerent.
