  1. \015\012Disconnect the negative battery cables.

  2. \015\012Drain the fuel from the fuel filter as follows:

    • \015\012Install a hose on the water drain on the water-in-fuel sensor.

    • \015\012Place the other end of the hose into an approved container.
      \015\012
    • \015\012Drain as much fuel as possible from the fuel filter housing.
      \015\012
    • \015\012Tighten the water drain on the water-in-fuel sensor.

  3. \015\012Remove or disconnect the following:

      \015\012
    • \015\012Water-in-fuel sensor harness connector
      \015\012
    • \015\012Fuel filter from the fuel filter/heater element housing
      \015\012
    • \015\012Water-in-fuel sensor from the fuel filter

  1. \015\012Install or connect the following:

    • \015\012Water-in-fuel sensor in the fuel filter
    \015\012\015\012\015\012\015\012\015\012NOTE \015\012\015\012\015\012Check the fuel filter/heater element housing and the filter for a dislocated filter seal or foreign debris. Contamination on the filter/heater housing may cause leakage at the fuel filter. Coat the seal with clean engine oil.

  2. \015\012Prime the fuel system:

    • \015\012Pump the primer located on top of the fuel filter 30 times or until stiff.

    • \015\012Try to start and run the engine. If the engine does not start, repeat the previous step.

    • \015\012Allow the engine to run for 5 minutes at idle.

    • \015\012Check for fuel leaks and clear all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
