Having problems with your 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 ?

2004 Dodge Truck 5.7L will not start, no battery power

\015 I just had a problem with my dodge truck Hemi. Drove to the store everything working fine. Come out of the store and my keyless entry does not work. Unlock truck manually and I have this odd red light flashing to the lower right of the Tach. Well I have no security system and it is not 4X4. No lights, engine does not crank. Open hood, little green light on battery is glowing nicely. Long story short, I replaced the battery and everything works. Now I am concerned if I have an alternator problem? Any thoughts or comment Please let me know\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 19-08-2019

I wouldn't think it was the alternator, if the battery is "green" and it does not crank, it sounds like something else is wrong. It could be a bad connection somewhere or possibly a computer problem. I would check the battery and make sure that it is at least 12+ volts and check all the terminals to make sure that nothing came loose. A loose ground could cause some of the symptoms.
Your truck is 4 years old. I have the same truck. The battery is comming up on its service life and should be replaced. What can happen is that one or more of the cells in the battery can short together internally. If you place a volt meter on the battery, it will show 12 volts.
