Having problems with your 2004 Dodge Stratus ?

Air conditioning 2004 Stratus R/T air conditioning kicks on for a few seconds then kicks off. Checked freon and level is ok. Any suggestions on what part to replace or what else to check?

I'm not absolutely sure on this one, but many compressors have a low pressure and a high pressure cut off switch. The low pressure switch monitors to make sure there is enough refrigerant in the system. Too low and it cuts off because otherwise your system will ice up (go figure that one out!) The high pressure switch is there to protect from clogs in the system causing damage to the compressor or other system components.

You should have a qualified professional check the system and both of those sensors. You most likely have a clog in the system which can be caused by a broken desiccant bag or a compressor that is beginning to self destruct and some piece of metal is clogging the system in a hose or at the orifice tube.

In any case you need professional help here...
This sounds like you have a compressor problem. If you take it to the service department they can test this part. It's very expensive to replace though. But thats what it sounds like. : )
