Normally the Oil Light is indicating lack of Oil Pressure and/or Low Oil Level in the crankcase. You don't state if the Oil Level is in the safe driving range. Pull the Dipstick and check the Oil Level. If it is below the Add line, you are probably due to get the Oil changed so do so immediately. If the Oil Level is full, then you may well have a problem in the Oil Pressure Switch. Have it checked out by a Certified Mechanic before something serious happens to your engine. No Oil pressure can result in nearly instant disaster to the Connecting Rod and Main Bearings as well as the Crankshaft, Camshaft and Lifters.

I doesn't matter what engine is in your car. Lack of Oil Pressure can end up costing you literally thousands of dollars.
