Having problems with your 2004 Honda Accord ?

MY ACCORD HAS 119,000 MILES ON IT AND I HAD THIS WORK DONE ON THE CAR. 1. TUNE UP 2. RAIDIATOR FLUSH 3. TRANS SERVICE 4. BELTS CHANGED THE CAR RUNS GREAT BUT I AM BEING TOLD TO HAVE THE TIMING BELT CHANGED THAT'S FINE THIS WILL GET DONE BUT NOW THE MECHANIC TELLS ME THAT I SHOULD CHANGE THE WATER PUMP ALSO WITH OUT EVEN LOOKING AT THE CAR. IF I DO NOT CHANGE THE WATER PUMP IS THIS BAD FOR THE CAR IF IT'S RUNNING GOOD?

Answers :

Well that is how I always sell a timing belt job also. The water pump is driven by the timing belt and it is very labor intensive to replace. I always replace the water pump also because you have to remove the timing belt to replace. I have had people refuse the water pump, and have to spend the same labor dollars a few months later when the pump went out. Even if not leaking it is always good insurance to replace the pump with the timing belt but is not a must just good idea.
