Having problems with your 2004 Hyundai Elantra ?

Car reving up and down on its own 3 to 4 times, then sputtering and dying?

\015 My car recently started doing this weird thing. It will ONLY SOMETIMES start reving up to 2-3 rpms and then down 3 or 4 times on its own and then sputters out and dies. This happens sometimes when I am either starting to go from park or after slowing down to a stop light or something. Also like I said it doesnt happen all the time, only about once a day, but the check engine light is not on and no codes are showing up. \015\012\015\012Please HELP!!\015\012(FYI- just changed timing belts, driving belts, had transmission flush, and replaced O2 sensor and speed sensor!)\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 01-06-2020

The previous solution to check the idle air contol is in the correct area but needs some clarification.
\015\012The idle control is accomplished by two parts: Throttle position sensor ( $35 at Autozone) and idle contol valve approx $190. I replaced the throttle position sensor about a week ago and it runs perfect
\015\012to date but am a skeptic after almost two years of dealer incompetance. I researched all the sensors and failure symptoms on the internet and the throttle position sensor failure symptoms matched mine
\015\012exactly. See http://wiki.seloc.org/a/Throttle _Position_Sensor
I had the exact same thing happening with mine! I think it's called? Oh no i lost it! It's a belt if your looking under the hood it's on the left. I replaced all kinds of things and spent all kinds of money cause nobody knew exactly what it was untill it broke down on my halfway thru a 350 mile trip! Timing belt i'm pretty sure! Have someone to check it for wear.
\015\012Hope this helps,
