Having problems with your 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe ?

Replacing part of console (lower crash panel)

\015 While installing an after market radio, I found that the installer had scarred and scratched the paint from the dash part beneath the radio panel. The part is called a "lower crash panel". It is the frame that surrounds the A/C controls. I ordered the replacement part and have it in-hand.My problem is removing the old part. I began by removing the two screws hidden behind the ash tray. I was able to "pop out" the scarred part, but just a little ways. After bringing it forward about six to eight inches, I could see that it was not free just yet. The piece has two "cigarette lighter style plugs" attached to it.That's where I am stumped. It is not at all clear how to free the part from the plugs / wiring. I've looked at it for hours and can't figure out how to free this part of the console from the cigarette lighter plugs. The plugs have a metal ring on the "user side" of the panel that secure them in place. Can't see how to remove them of pass them through. Stuck!\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 20-05-2019
