Engine wants to stall like in the old days with a dirty air filter, like it's not getting gas?

Answers :

Lots of possibilities.
\015\012One is clogged fuel filter, but that would be worst after higher speed driving over time.
\015\012Another would be the mass air sensor, which can get coated with oil and water foam from the PVC. Clean it and it could improve mixture.
\015\012The O2 sensor also gets coated with carbon, and that results in a bad mixture as well.
\015\012Low fuel pressure from a bad pump, purge valve, or regulator can ruin mixture also. So can purge system leak, like a loose gas cap.
