Having problems with your 2004 Kia Sedona ?

2004 kia sedona replacing alternator

\015 I had a squealing and replaced both belts. Squealing went away for about a week and came back with a loud squealing and grinding. I sprayed belt dressing and it took some away but not the grinding. I sprayed wd-40 on the alternator pully and it went away for about 30 seconds. How do i get the alternator out there is literally no room in there.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 25-05-2020

I've managed to replace mine now. There seems to be little advice/experience of replacing an alternator on a Diesel engine in a Sedona. For mine, I removed the brake master cylinder assy, without disconnecting the pipes. This gave slack to move it over to the side, leaving a gap in which to work and space to draw the old alterator out. I also removed the radiator from the top of the engine, leaving a bit more space. Taking away the RH wheel and splash guard gave access to the belt tensioner and crankshaft nut, to be able to turn the engine over.

I also found it necessary to remove clips and clamps from various pipes so I could move the pipes and wires around a bit.

All in all a tricky job, but one which would be only half the job now I've done it once!
