If you are not blowing a fuse or a circuit breaker, it could be a loose or broken wire, or even the switch itself. From afar it is difficult to tell. Try jiggling the switch next time it cuts out and see if it comes back on. Make sure you're not driving so you can observe it clearly without any danger of crashing or other interruptions. If that doesn't work, then go to the connectors and gently move them about. Keep moving he wires and connectors until you're satisfied they are not the cause. Check for a loose fuse or circuit breaker. Next stop woul be to check for voltages (12V) at the motor when this happens. If no voltage, then back up toward the switch, and so on. Check for chaffed wires too. Either side keeps it from working if they are chaffed, but the hot side would cause a fuse or circuit breaker to pop. Otherwise we need more information to figure this one out.
The motor in car heater air conditioners tends to wear out on the armature or the brushes. When it stops see if you tap on it (its under the dash near the glove box,) will it restart? If so replace it. They are about 100 dollars at a local autoparts store.
