Having problems with your 2004 Pontiac Grand Am ?

My battery is strong but the engine will not engage just turns over as if its out of gas

This could be a bad fuel pump, clogged fuel filter. I'd say take a look at the fuel filter first, then inquire into a fuel filter. (Note, when putting the key in the ignition and moving it ahead on but not starting the car, do you hear any noise from the rear gas-tank area of the car?) If you do it's most likely the fuel pump starting up.) Give it a try.
