Having problems with your 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser ?

I have a pt cruiser, the instrument panel has stopped working. If i disconnect the battery and re-connect it the panel starts working (but soon goes blank again). I have had the instrument panel checked and there does not seem to be a problem with it, so I think that may be a red herring, I have also noticed that the internal lights do not come on when the door is open, if the instrument panel is not on, the internal lights do work when switched on manually.

The PCM is not a computer chip, it is the Powertrain Control module (engine computer). What needs to be done is a code reader needs to be connected to the diagnostic link of the vehicle, and checked for fault codes relating to this condition. I'm not sure how it was checked initially, but what I can tell you is if the PCM is found to be the issue, your not going to be able to repair it yourself. An expensive scan tool is needed to program the PCM when it is replaced, and is not available to the average person or technician. A Chrysler dealer will be the best option. It may also be related to the BCM (Body control module) since this problem seems to be related to the interior lights also.

\012The problem may rely on a faulty PCM (powertrain control module). THe PCM is like a car's brain that when it's faulty something else fails. The PCM has connectivity on all electrical current that runs inside the car.
