Having problems with your 2005 GMC Envoy Xl ?

2005 GMC Envoy XL 4.2 has had a check engine light issue. Code p0106 is the only remaining code. I have replaced the MAP sensor and the performance, stumbling, erratic idle, stalling has increased. Fuel consumption is greater as well, so I re-installed the old MAP sensor and the problems diminished. The CEL was constant regardless of which sensor was installed. I checked to see if there was a code p2138 in the history but did not find the code present. I have completed 5 drive cycles since the o

Unfortunately sounds like you have the electrical "find me if you can" nightmare.
\015\012But first did you purchase a map sensor from the dealer or was it after market....I know once you buy it you own it, if it was after market and "if" its defective, that just makes your hunt sicker, something similiar happened to me a few times with relays after market what a night mare!!
\015\012Things develop into a stage right now of an hourly labor hunt which can be very costly but lets start with the aftermarket theory and see if that straightens things out, also did you give it your best to see if you have a major type vacumn leak somewhere around the intake?
\015\012Check for a carboned and or stuck pintle in the IAC Motor(Idle Air Control Motor) these have direct influence on erratic idle and stumbling as they dont change off lean/rich mixture and the injectors are stuck sensing one spray pattern being either rich or lean.
\015\012Did this happen after you filled up? Perhaps you have contaminated fuel in the injectors/tank fuel filter?
\015\012Last but not least look over the condition of the EGR Valve(Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve) if that is off its seat due to carboization a bad engine idle etc. will occur.
\015\012Sorry about all the questions and other info I sent ya just want you to be aware of other possibilities, I been there and chased down the wrong road just to find an obvious defective part or after analysing the fuel found it to be a simple contamination problem that required a tank/line/injector flush and a new filter.
\015\012Good luck.
