Having problems with your 2005 Hyundai Sonata ?

The seal on the oil filter was blown out. Oil has covered most of engine, chassis, inside the wheels, etc. The stud where the oil filter is threaded on was cross threaded. The filter I removed was crossthreaded and very difficult to remove. I do not know if the filter was fully seated or if the oil pressure spiked and blew out the seal. I cannot hand turn on the new filter because the thread is messed up. I would like to clean the threads with a die but cannot find a 20mm die. Any ideas?

The oil filter stud that the oil filter spins on to usually can be replaced.Try to look inside it and see if it has a hex type opening inside the hole.Sometimes you can put a big allen wrench inside the hole and then turn it off.If you can`t see inside the hole use a mirror and flashlight.If you can`t see anyway to remove it then check the hardware stores.They usually have bigger taps that you can buy separately without having to buy the complete kit.I also found a service bulletin for using after market oil filters causing unstable pressures.The bulletin number is 05-20-002.Hope this helps.Good luck.Let me know if you need more help.
If you have a Granger Warehouse in your area try them They sell almost anything in taps & dies. The only other alternative is to replace the oil filter adapter instead. When anything is crossthreaded and it has a seal upon it the seal will have a 100% possiblity of leaking
