Having problems with your 2005 Nissan Quest ?

RSS The RSS (rear sonar system) is not working. The RSS ligt at the RSS button on the dashboard is ON (means RSS OFF). I push the button to turn the system ON (light OFF) and It doesnot turn ON (the RSS light will continue ON). I went to the 2 fuse boxes and I do not see a RSS fuse. Any idea on what fuse to check? Please let me know how to fix this problem. Thank you. Regards, Marco

I would bet that your issue is not caused by a fuse. The fact that the "Rear Sonar OFF" lamp is on and won't turn off means that the system is in fail-safe. The system has sefl-diagnosis capabilities and has found a fault.

\015\012To enter the self-diagnosis, turn the key off. Depress and hold the rear sonar switch and while holding it in, turn the key on. You will see the lamp flash and may hear a beep from the warning chime. Release the button and push and release 5 times within 10 seconds. You should see the lamp flash and another beep. Push and release the button one time. This will display fault codes that are stored in the system. For example, if a code 12 is stored, you will see 1 flash, followed by a pause and followed by 2 flashes. If there aren't any other faults stored, this will repeat.

\015\012I have seen code 12 most frequently, being that the warning chime has failed. If this is the case with your vehicle, you won't hear the beeps that I mentioned earlier, but only see the flashing of the lamp.

\015\012If this is the case, you will need to replace the chime. It is located under the cover between the steering wheel and the windshield. There is a "hood" that faces toward the steering wheel and behind that is a cover that is held down with spring-metal clips. Get a small screwdriver or panel "popper" under this cover and gently pry it up. The chime is a small speaker directly under that cover and is bolted down with 2- 5.5 mm bolts.

\015\012Once you have repaired the fault, the system will automatically reset the self-diagnosis memory.

\015\012If you have other codes, you may have an issue with one or more of the sensors located in the rear bumper. I, however, do not know those code numbers off the top of my head.

\015\012I hope that you have found this helpful!
