Having problems with your 2005 Peugeot 407 2.0 ?

Surging diesel Ocassional surging at idle -just under 800rpm up to just under 900. Car jerks forward when stopped so I have to engage N until ready to proceed. It does it when underway but it's all spasmodic rather than continuous. The anti pollution symbol red light is on. Garage thinks it is an air leak causing surge. No black smoke. Starts perfectly. 77000km. Any ideas

Answers :

Replace fuel filter and check for fuel leaks. Check and change the pollution canister or purge valve.
Could have bad fuel injector.or could have faulty transmission torque converter that will cause engine surge.
