Having problems with your 2005 Toyota Corolla ?

Transmission maintenance 2005 Corolla has 75 K on auto trans. Has never had it's fluid changed. Feel it needs changing no matter what the book says. My problem is i can't find a direct answer as to what needs to be done, can't even find out if there is a filter or not. Any help would be welcome. hanks john in NM

Answers :

Yes there is a filter. Take the lower pan off, have a large drain pan under this as it will make a HUGE mess. With the pan off you should be able to see the filter. Don't remove any of the metal tubes if you don't have to. Install your new filter and use a new pan gasket. Don't tighten it up too much you don't want to split the new gasket. Also it's nice to try to catch all the oil because you can put it in milk jugs to get your measurement on how many quarts it will take. Ask your parts guy too, he should be able to look up the capacity for you.
Yes change it ,it due I change mine every 60.000 miles
