Having problems with your 2006 Cadillac CTS ?

Trouble starting only after refueling

\015 I have a '06 CTS with the 2.8 V6. I currently have 69,000 miles on the car. The check engine light came on while I was waiting in traffic with no noticable engine problem. I called on-star for a diganosis of the problem. They informed me that I had a evap. problem. Keep in mind that the ONLY time that I have a problem is after I fuel the car. If I remove the cap without fueling, I have no problem starting the car. I am not topping off the tank when fueling either. I have replaced the gas cap with no success. This one has me confussed!\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 19-08-2019

Same problem 06 CTS...you probably hear a ticking noise under the hood, and car will not start after re-fueling- check engine code is like a p0442? which is a leak in the fuel system. you can try buying a new gas cap from cadillac or an ac-delco distributor to start. its only about twenty dollars. disconnect battery for about ten minutes to reset check engine light or find a local shop with an obd-2 scanner to reset light and re-diagnose. If check engine light comes back on with same code replace the evap. purge valve.(about $25) it is located on the passenger side of car on the intake manifold. it has one electrical connector and two hoses connected to it. no tools required to change which is a plus! disconnect battery or find local shop to reset light again. this should take care of the problem!!
Do either of you have a diagram of what this part looks like. Seems reasonable I can do it myself, and was just quoted $125 to fix.
