Having problems with your 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt ?
My cooling fan won't kick in after i put a new radiator in i c one wire hanging on the right close to the radiator but was dark when i installed it not sure if that the problem
From your description it is hard to tell what the wire is for that you mention. Your cooling fan for a modern car will not come on and run until the car computer tells it to do after sensing that the engine coolant temperature is getting too hot...so...do not expect the fan to come on right away...also...do not believe that the fan will stay off after you turn the engine off. Often after turning the ignition off the stopped engine just sits there and like us on a hot humid summer day will just get hotter and hotter...so...sometimes in warm weather especially you can turn the ignition switch off and after a minute or so the fan will suddenly turn on...so...be careful if you are doing any work there...disconnect the negative battery terminal before doing any work so that you don't accidentally get your hands or other appendages whacked by the fan blades. As far as the "extra" wire you have I suspect that it is intended to be a ground wire for something and you might look around for where it might conveniently be connected to body sheet metal including the steel cross member above the radiator...but...as said, it may not be a ground so it is best to check its wire color and look in a manual to see if you can determine where it goes. It can also be that the wire needs to be connected to make your fan run...but...mostly nowadays there are 2 not 1 wire that goes to the cooling fan because they are mostly nowadays all made of plastic housings. It used to be that on old cars there was metal everywhere instead of plastic so the body ground could be used for the negtive connections...but for cooling fans used today they need to run 2 wires instead of 1. Hope this was helpful.
Well do not no wire hanging may be if you can tell if its red blaike yellow you could of frogot to put wire on fan or sensor or you have air in system you need to make shere you do not have air in system
