Having problems with your 2006 Ford F 350 Super Duty ?

I keep getting a emission light on my 6.0 Powerstroke, they have changed out a senor but it came back on again. Do you know what all it may be or could you tell me what kind of code reader to buy?

You don't need to buy a Code reader. Just go to an Autozone or Oreillys and they will scan it free. When the sensor was replaced the shop should have cleared your computer. Otherwise the message will reappear for 25 to 35 Startups. You can disconnect your Battery for 10 minutes to clear the memory, but its probably best to use a scanner.

\015\012Some of the Codes are not perfect, you can get the same Code from 2 defects and of course one will be false. The sensors can be damaged from testing and some parts can regain their full function when a damaged part is replaced. Catalytic converters would be a good example. When the engine runs rich it can temporarily foul a C converter, but fix the engine and the C converter will purge itself.

\015\012The mechanic is saving you money by letting the car heal itself, but it can be inconvenient to make a second trip to a Repair shop to reset the "Check Engine" light. Please include the Code numbers with your problem, we are kinda in the dark without it.
