Having problems with your 2006 Ford Freestar ?

My 2006 ford freestar brake lights will not go off when we exit the vehicle unless we pull up on the brake pedal. However, recently it has been coming on in the middle of the night causing us to need a boost. What could it be?

Answers :

I would go to a dealer and get a new brake light switch and install it. I would also inquire as to whether or not there is a spring return on the pedal, beyond the normal master cylinder pushing back to its neutral state pressure. If there is not a helper spring to return the pedal to the fully up position, I would ask a dealer to check the master cylinder and vacuum booster. This could be a common problem on that year or model and it costs nothing to ask.
Did you find out what was causing that? I'm having the issue. Thx
