Having problems with your 2006 Mercury Milan ?

2006 Mercury Milan goes to 3 rpms and drops dramatically, scan says it's the mass air intake. Could this be the problem?

Answers :

It sounds possible, first unplug the Mass flow meter and check for corrosion. This would be the part under the Airhorn area on top of the intake manifold. Then try to find an RPM that the engine will run steady at and then use a water spray around the seams of the intake manifold, vacuum lines, and EGR valve. A leak will change the RPM.

\015\012The diagnostic system works pretty good, but it can be fooled by physical changes that mimic a defective part, like a vacuum leak.

\015\012I see you have a 2006, depending on service date and mileage you still could have warranty. The automakers also classify some engine controls as Pollution equipment with longer warranties. It is good to check for this and any service bulletins for a problem part. Good Luck with your repair.
