How to remove alternator in a 2006 Toyota Avalon 3.5L Touring?
\015 Removed upper and lower alt. bolts. It's stuck and won't come out. Drive belt is off. Battery disconnected. Trying to replace AC compressor and need to remove alt., but it's stuck.\015
This gave me some trouble too as there is not a lot of room in this area to see what is going on. Turns out there is a 3rd bolt on the inside of the lower alternator arm ... but it is too difficult to reach in place. Fortunately, it attaches to the engine block via an "L" bracket, so just remove the 12mm bolt that fastens the bracket to the block (use 6" extension) and remove the alternator with the bracket still attached. Transfer the bracket to the new alternator before you install it. Go slowly, as you may find another electrical cable zip tied to the back of the alternator.
I believe there is another bolt
