How to remove cv joint... can't get it off...

Answers :

There are only 3 different types of retainers on all CV joints.
The most common is to have a ring of 6 bolts around the CV joint block, to a flange. These bolts are using recessed Allen or polygonal drive.
Next most common, on the outer CV joint, it is also common to just thread the axle after it sticks through the splines of the stub axle in the bearing, and then a large nut is threaded on the outside.
But inner CV joints also often are simply held in by a retaining spring, that requires a good rap from a slide hammer or pry bar.
Remove the large nut for the axle. remove the 2 bolts holding the strut to the knuckle. . you can also remove the tie rod end from the knuckle but iirc it can be done without doing that step. Then take a hammer and punch and drive the axle out of the hub. be careful not to hit the shaft with the hammer directly. this can damage the threads. The inner joint you pry out and then you can pull the axle out.
