Having problems with your 2007 Mazda B2300 ?

1990 Mazda b2200 pickup - clutch goes to the floor

\015 I believe I found a leak coming from under a small rubber boot that encases a cylinder like near the transmission. there is a small bleeder valve coming from the cylinder. I guess what i need to know is if an average mechanic like myself would be able to replace one or should i take it to a shop. Money is a big issue for me! on a budget. Thanks for any help.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 22-04-2019

This is called the clutch slaved cylinder. It is not difficult to change. There are 2 mounting bolts and a clevis linkage pin on the side of the transmission bell housing. Remove the hydraulic line BEFORE you unmount the cylinder. Then it is a matter of doing the swap of the clutch slaved cylinder.
\015\012After the un-mount swap out of the old with the new cylinder with the mounting botls tight and the linkage connected install the hydraulic line.
\015\012You wil have to bleed the new cylinder. Bleeding is perfromed by 2 people. The person in the drivers seat depresses and holds down the clutch while you open the bleeder port ofr 2 seconds and close it again. (WHILE THE CLUTCH IS DEPRESSED) Then the person in the drivers seat again cycles the clutch pedal a few times then depresses the clutch and holds it all the way to the floor. Open the bleeder port again just long enough for any air to escape and close the port. CHECK the clutch reservoir level after about 3 bleeding cycles. You do not want to re-introduce air into the system.
\015\012Repeat bleeding cycle until all of the air is out of the system and the clutch pedal stroke is firm and does not have that spongy feeling.
\015\012It is not as difficult as you would think. The only real danger is that you have the possibility of getting brake fluid in your eyes if you open the bleeder port to fast. It is recommeded that you put a small hose over the bleeder outlet to catch the fluid in a container. Most clutches use DOT3 brake fluid. One pint is more than enough usually.
