Having problems with your 2007 Mercury Milan V6 AWD Sedan ?

My check engine light just came on and I took it in. I was told rats chewed thru my ignition coil. To replace it they are charging me $671 for the part alone!! I feel like this is outrageous and I'm getting ripped off... Can anyone advise?

I've been in this business long enough to believe that nothing is impossible. That said, I've seen many wiring harnesses chewed up by rodents, but never hard parts like a coil. If a harness has a few wires chewed, most shops will just repair it but if there is extensive damage, likely they are replacing the entire thing. Depending upon which harness needs replacement, the cost can be expensive both for labor and the part itself. That would make more sense. Sure there isn't a mis-communication and that's actually what the shop is doing??
