Having problems with your 2007 Pontiac G6 GT Convertible ?

Both headlights on left side of 2007 pontiac G6 GT are out

\015 The headlight on the passenger side went out, so I replaced it. A week later, both lights on the left side will not work. It worked when I replaced it. There was slight heat damage to the connector for one light, but it was not significant. Now both will not work. Suggestions?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 22-04-2019

It seems that many Pontiac G6 owners are experiencing this same problem. At first, it appears that a low-beam headlight has blown out, but upon careful inspection, you can determine that the integrity of one of the connectors to the bulb has been compromised and is is not conducting voltage across the connection, whereas the bulb is still good. When you look at the connector in question, you will see what looks like corrosion or burning around the inside of the connector pin (female end) and the pin on the headlight (male end). This is the result of a design flaw, as many, many G6 owners are having this same problem. This should have resulted in a manufacturer\\'s recall, but so far, it has not. So, the least expensive repair is to replace just the connector that plugs into the back of the bulb. You can purchase a connector "pigtail" from a dealer for about $26.00 (It consists of the connector block with the pins and a short length of wire connected to each one. When you make the repair, you must cut the wires going the defective connector, and splice the wires from the new connector to the wires in the wiring harness. The best way to do this is to use insulated but splices with a crimp connector. You can find these in any hardware store, auto supply store, or even Radio Shack. Caution: Be sure to match the polarity of the connection (note the color of the wire going to each pin in the connector), and use the correct size of crimp connector matched to the gauge of the wire. Also, if you are reinstalling a good bulb that has a slightly burned or corroded pin, first clean both sides of the pin with isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab, or rub the pin with some very fine steel wool. I called a Tri County GM dealer parts on this item. They for some reason have plenty of these pig tails in stock for 2007 G6 Convertibles with the left side headlight connector pig tail melted issues. (They do get testy when you ask to check for recall and then state gosh how convenient you have an ample supply for a rare occurrence.) :-0 I did call then Oreily auto pars and they have it for under $10. its out the door to be repaired.
