Ipreza Outback Brake Problems

\015 I'm the owner of '97 Impreza Outback (Sport). My question concerns the brakes\015\012 on this car. Quite simply, at times they make the most obnoxious grinding\015\012 sound . The problem seems worse when they're wet, but this behavior is by no\015\012 means limited to their being damp. They can be quite grinding even when it's\015\012 dry outside.\015\012\015\012I've had the car to the dealer twice about this problem and they assure me the\015\012 brakes are fine. However, it's hard to believe the noise I hear is within the\015\012 range of 'normal'.\015\012\015\012Has anybody had a similar experience? Thanks for any insight you can give me.\015\012\015\012S\015\012We just took our 2007 Impreza Outback Sport to the dealer with the same problem, and pretty much got the same answer. The car only has a little over 8k miles on it, and every time we brake there is a distinctive grinding noise that was definitely not there when we bought the car. The dealer told us that 1) they couldn't hear it and 2) if you don't drive it much, rust can build up on the disks and it will make this noise when you initially start driving it, but after a while it should go away after breaking a few times. We drove the car all weekend and the noise has never gone away. I am suspicious because our car is still under warranty, and I got the same kind of response that others on this page have received. What should I ask the dealer to do when I call them back? This is why we got a new car and have consistently taken it back to the dealer for maintenance and oil changes...I just want them to hold up their end of the deal.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 21-01-2019

Answers :

Normal ?? go back to the dealer and ask him to look up TSB 06-36-06 date June 23 2006 this specifically deals with the rear calipers... not sure about the front.
\015\012be that as it may... any time you have warrenty issues with a dealer... keep track of what was done and said.... and ... ask the dealer to contact the area rep and have him involved
