Having problems with your 2008 BMW 1 Series ?

I've got a 116i 56 plate with what i can best describe as ''a worn wiper blade going across a windscreen'' noise when coming to a full stop when braking (not slowing down). The car has full servive history. The dealership suggested new tyres, having got these the noise is still there, any ideas?

I would think it's a break pad problem, perhaps dusty and near end of life. Check the thickness by removing the front wheel and looking at the pads, should be 3mm or more in thickness(not counting the metal backplate) any less then change as soon as possible.I can't see how they can suggest tyres as that would be very obvious as you would be skidding everywere.Personally I would be thinking about taking to a goverment testing station with a view to either getting the old tyres put back with a refund or getting trading standards to look into the dealership for bad practices. But that's up to you.
