High oil consummation for subaru 2012

\015 After only 4500 km of my NEW 2012 impreza sport 2,0 L AWD 5-speed manual , my oil engine light-on. I went to the concessioner and they tell me that is normal and that they add 1,5 L of oil in the motor. Ok fine. But now i'm at 14 500 km and the light turn on AGAIN !! So what is the problem with my car. The level is again at the lowest when I check it. And no, I'm not a crazy driver but I do 1hre on the highway each day ! ( 120 km per day). It's my first subaru and I want to know if that is normal to burn so easily my oil even after only 4000 Km. they tell me that i'm suppose to make 10000 km with the new oil. thank you\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 12-11-2018

From what you report, the difference from the original 4500Km and the later 14,500KM is 10,000KM. This does match the claim of the new oil. It does seem excessive, but the engine did get more than twice the distance than at the first interval of 4500KM.(2 x 4500KM=9000KM + 1000KM).

You should get a compression test to check for the piston rings and while they do this, they will remove the sparkplugs which could be physically examined. But getting someone to do this will probably require a call to Subaru Corporate Customer Service.

The Corporate people will probably have Data to tell if this oil consumption is higher than normal. The Corporate people would know about all the problems versus 1 Dealer and his experiences.

Somehow I want to say that in the past, new cars had a break-in period for the first 500 Miles, not to exceed 50 MPH. Do not know what that is in Kilometers, but you may have exceeded this in the first 3 days of driving. There are all kinds of theories for break-in periods.

You may benefit from a Browser search for Subaru's like a BLOG for Subaru or Impreza owners.

I hope my solution is helpful.
