92 toyota celica radiator fan switch

\015 92 celica convertible, I replaced the radiator and now the radiator fan switch won't fit when I try to screw it on, it's like it is too long. so I put the plastic plug back in. Can I fill the radiator and run the car w/o the switch?\012I had a heck of a time getting the right radiator, on the door of my car it says the engine in a 1.6 but the radiator is for a 2.2. everything fit except this switch. I don't have anymore money to put into this car but it is all I have and I need it to run.\012 I have heard if the switch is disconnected then the fan will run constantly. That does not seem so bad. would I connect this old switch to the wiring and just get it out of the way or do I just keep the old switch out if it is not connected to the radiator?\012Thank you\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 23-04-2018

Answers :

I guess the overall answer is no. You need to find a way to make the switch work.
If you leave the switch unplugged and the fan runs all the time, the engine may not warm up in the winter. And you are wearing out the fan motor to some degree.
You can't hook the switch up and not mount it in the radiator because then the fan won't come on and you will cook the engine.
Is there a way you can get a pipe fitting that will extend the switch ?
