Starter issues on 1986 Toyota corolla. - Cars & Trucks
Sounds like a old worn out battery because if the lights are dimming then either the starter windings are drawing too much power or the battery has failed and the only way to test the battery is to put a drop tester on it ,it may read 12 volts but if its not holding a reserve amperage then its no good as the plates are sulphated up.What you can do is to charge the battery up overnight then discharge it with a 21 watt bulb then re-charge it and do this 3 times at least and may bring the battery back from the grave by de-sulphating the plates but ? doesnt work if a cell inside the battery is dead
