2001 Ford Ranger 3.0L V6 Timing Chain Issue

\015 I have a 2001 Ford Ranger w/ a 3.0L V6. I am not totally sure what happen to it. One day, (while a friend was driving it) it all of the sudden stopped running. I took it to a garage and the mechanic said that he couldn't get it to turn over and instead of charging me a ton of money to tear it down he suspected it was the timing chain and that I should just replace the entire engine. However I have heard that even if the timing chain went out, that doesnt mean that the valves are bent? Can someone help me determine if this is the case or not?\015\012\015\012Thanks!\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 22-04-2019
