Having problems with your Cars & Trucks ?

Red coil wire is arching on my 1984 chevy c10 5.7L

\015 I have a 1984 chevy c10 5.7L with a electronic distributer and the red wire on the coil keeps arching over. I have already put 4 different coils on it thinking I was getting bad coils but I really don't think that's the problem. I noticed that the coil is supposed to have a secondary grounding strap but none of the coils came with one. could that be the problem?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 16-07-2018

Answers :

Yes.
The strap is necessary. It is usually not replaced, so it does not come with a new coil.
