Having problems with your Cadillac DeVille ?

REPLACED FRONT AND BACK BRAKES ON VEHICLE. HAD ROTORS MACHINED AND PUT BACK ON THE VEHICLE ALONG WITH NEW BRAKE PADS. THE ENTIRE CAR SHAKES WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES AT SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 15 MILES PERR HOUR. THE SHAKING IS NOT IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THINKING IT WAS A FRONT END PROBLEM I REPLACED THE FRONT ROTORS AND PADS AGAIN. BEFORE I REPLACE THE REAR ROTORS AND PADS WHAT COULD STILL BE CAUSING THE PROBLEM.

Hi,

\015\012This is an extremely annoying problem especially as you have already replaced the components most likely to be causing it. A few quite often undervalued issues can be causing the symptoms you describe.
\015\012
\015\0121) Despite the fact that you have had the rotors machined they can sometimes retain the slightest of buckles which is enough to cause this problem. Shops are good at machining the surfaces smooth to prevent pad wear but often ignore the rotation of the disk as an issue. In other words they may have been under engineered.
\015\012
\015\0122) Bad bushings in the front A frame. Dependant on the vehicle bushings play a surprisingly important role in the stability of the vehicle and often loose/worn bushings translate themselves into vibration in the brakes when applied.
\015\012
\015\0123) Have you had the tyres rotated? Rotors can be warped when the wheels are over torqued during the rotation process.
\015\012
\015\0124) Seized calipers or improper caliper operation - (especially if this occurs on one side of the vehicle only) can cause this problem to appear.
\015\012
\015\0125) Loose wheel bearing is also a cause but should also show symptoms not related to braking.
\015\012
\015\0126) Weak suspension dampers or springs - a common cause of brake vibration.
\015\012
\015\012Any of these issues can cause the symptoms you describe and each will need to be checked before a proper diagnoses can be made.

Hello,

ABS brakes do pulse. If that is not what you are detecting you can getthe error codes. Many Auto parts stores will have loaner meters forfree. Cadillacs have lots of sensors.
Anti-lock brakes have sensors to control braking which could be the problem.

If this car has a StabiliTrak chassis then it willhave a continuously variable road-sensing suspension with a fast-actingvariable dampers, integrated rotary sensors to measure body and wheelpositional changes due to varying road conditions.

This car does have recalls you can check.

Last resaults try changing all the break fluid get it done right withthe BG44 PROFESIONALS Problem: Brake fluid becomes oxidized andcontaminated over time and use. Heat and moisture cause corrosion onparts and brake fluid failure. This causes a spongy brake pedal andshows up in discolored brake fluid.Solution: The entire brake system is inspected for leaks, mastercylinder corrosion, worn pneumatic parts, harmful varnish build-up,broken or rusted bleeder valves, worn rotors and drums and air in thebrake lines. All old brake fluid is replaced with BG Heavy Duty DOT 3or DOT 4 Brake Fluid. The result will be a longer lasting, moreefficient and safer braking system.http://www.bgfindashop.com/bgservices/brake.htm
