1987 Dodge B150 "Check EGR" light?

\015 My 1987 Dodge B150 van with 5.2L engine is giving me a "check EGR" light\015\012\015\012on the dash. All runs well EXCEPT just after startup in cool temps.\015\012 The engine will falter a bit, RPMS slow but as soon as the engine\015\012 coolant temp gauge moves, all is well again. Is the EGR valve\015\012 controlling exhaust by-pass thru the intake manifold on this set up...\015\012 and therefore if it's not working right giving me this problem?? When\015\012 the engine is warm, no problems at all, runs fine. What's the best way\015\012\015\012to "check" the EGR valve?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.\015\012\015\012Bill\015\012 Alaska\015\012replaced 9v battery but cannot find reset switch\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 06-07-2020

Hello, if you have a vacuum pull off choke, you can try replacing your thermal vacuum valve on the intake manifold, it fits with the slow rpm..s at cold start!! Good luck, cheap repair if it works for ya. marty
