Check engine light is infamous and can be a numerous different things. Before the following make sure you don't have security or radio codes, if you need it make sure you have it. The first thing I do is unplug the negative(black) cable from the battery for about 20 minutes. (I let it sit unplugged for about 30 mins. just to make sure) This resets the codes in your car's computer. It might show up after a drive or so. It might not. Sometimes the check engine light can be triggered through voltage peaks for different reasons and it stays on once its triggered. If you do really have a problem then it should come back eventually.(Usually not right away). Hopefully this will fix the problem. If it comes back, usually it is not a major problem. Try changing out the O2 sensor and the sparks and plugs. Normally it is always the o2 sensor. If you decide to do this, please remove the battery cables, just to be safe. Hope this helps!
Check engine light means its storeing a trouble code have code pulled and light will go off advanced auto will pull code for free maybe
