Having problems with your 1999 Porsche Boxster ?
I have a 1999 boxster. Everything works and runs fine except my trunk and hood latches were stuck in a lock position and would not unlock no matter how many times I tried to lock and unlock the door. So a couple days ago I decided to take matters into my own hands.
What I did:

The computer that controls the trunk and hood latches is under the seat, as you discovered. Unfortunately, this is not a good position to have a computer when moisture enters the car (to say the least). The Boxster being a convertible makes it especially susceptible to moisture problems here. I've seen the same trunk/hood latch problem, and it had to be reset by a dealer tech. Took about 3 minutes.\015\012I suspect your additional problem to be a) a wiring short when you did your microsurgery, or b) you activated the Boxster's anti-theft defense.\015\012Again, I suggest professional help. For the car ;-).
